What do you do when half of your funding comes to conclusion? At the end of March, our five year relationship with United Way and the Ontario Trillium Foundation comes to its formal conclusion. We are grateful for the financial support they provided in running numerous programs that brought neighbours out of isolation and into meaningful relationship.
Although our mission stays the same, we are saying goodbye to a formal relationship with several good people. Sarah – our community development coordinator – is launching into a PH.D in urban planning in the fall. John – our Sport 4 All director – is exploring ideas that fit his passion for sport and nature.
The question we have asked over the last several months is “what’s next?” Where does God want us to focus? How do we pay the bills? Steve is leading us through a redesign of our leadership. Board members Nate, Kathleen, and Emily are reimagining our relationships: ‘Up’ towards loving our Father in Heaven, ‘In’ towards loving the Covenant Community, and ‘Out’ towards loving our neighbours and neighbourhoods.
The first 10 years of the DWCC has produced incredible bursts of creativity (check www.dwcc.ca for images). Thank you for participating with us and supporting us through prayer and ongoing financial support. We now look to the next decade, building on the lessons learned in being a loving community where everyone has a chance to be valued and finds a place to belong.
