We are excited to announce that RE:ACT Windsor will be launching this fall. RE:ACT is a 90 day outpatient recovery program that provides a safe space for individuals to explore and heal from personal trauma and take back control of their lives.
It is important that we work as a community to provide pathways to healing and recovery as soon as possible.
Death due to overdose is an extreme consequence of the addiction crisis our community is facing. However, widespread addiction deteriorates communities in other ways as well such as:
Increase in crime
Increase in poverty and homelessness
Strain on social services
Increased mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression
Dr. Wajid Ahmed, medical officer of health at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit states that, “[the situation] is deeply concerning, and I think we have to accept that as a community there’s a lot that still needs to be done.”
The need for more addiction treatment programs in Windsor is apparent. Janice Kaffer, president and CEO at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, calls for a “good solid pathway for men coming out of withdrawal management.” -Windsor Star, June 21, 2019
RE:ACT helps people understand how trauma affected them – not just in becoming an addict, but in all aspects of their lives.
RE:ACT offers a long term program, where people will receive teaching, counselling, learn life skills, job skills, relationship skills, building a healthy network, and transition gradually into life.
RE:ACT is one of the only treatment programs in our community that meets 5days/week for 90 days.
RE:ACT offers a daily meal to all participants.
RE:ACT is available at no cost to all participants.
