What if… there was a safe space for the Bruce Park Neighbourhood to enjoy each other’s company and innovate?
A good place to grow up and a good place to grow old?
630 Church Street is that place!
A new, people-powered community centre and social enterprise is coming February 2026
DWCC has taken an exciting step forward: we bought a building. And with it, a once-in-a-generation chance to build something our neighbourhood has long deserved: a place to gather, belong, and access life’s basics with dignity.
At 630 Church Street, we’re building a place where neighbours can come together, share resources, and find comfort, connection, and practical support all in one welcoming space, just steps away from the Good Hood Community Kitchen, the DWCC office and Bruce Park.
A Welcoming Community Centre
Workshops, community gatherings, neighbourhood news, and shared resources, right where people live.
630 Church will be a place to learn, to meet, to connect, and to simply be. From language groups to study halls to skill-sharing workshops, it will offer a steady heartbeat of community life for all ages.

A Social Enterprise Laundromat
Meeting a critical need—and helping sustain community programming.
After the closing of our area’s only laundromat, hundreds of residents were left without a way to wash clothes close to home. Our social enterprise laundromat will restore this essential service while generating revenue to support programs, youth opportunities, and community-led initiatives.
A Neighbourhood Incubator and Flex Space
Room to test ideas, launch social enterprises, and dream together.
With flexible zoning and the ability to build upward or outward, 630 Church can grow alongside the community. It can host small businesses, micro-enterprises, emerging leaders, and groups who simply need a little space to try something new.
A Place to Learn, Work, and Give Back
Hands-on volunteer experiences and paid learning opportunities.
From youth looking to build résumés, to newcomers gaining Canadian experience, to anyone eager to learn a trade, this project will creates pathways for people to grow. Roles could include laundry tech apprenticeships, wash-and-fold services, workshop support, community outreach, and more!
What’s Needed to Open the Doors
To transform 630 Church into a thriving community hub, we need to complete several key renovations:
Accessibility upgrades and layout improvements
Plumbing and electrical updates to support programming and laundry services
Roof repairs within the next two years
Industrial washers and dryers
Basic interior improvements (walls, flooring, lighting, insulation)
Legal & administrative fees to cover costs of starting a business
Future potential: The building can accommodate additional floors and expansion into the back lot as the community’s needs grow.
A Neighbourhood Built on Dignity and Connection
This project isn’t just about laundry, or meeting rooms, or programming.
It’s about creating a place where neighbours feel seen, supported, and empowered.
A place woven into everyday life that’s built by the community, for the community.
Thank you for being a part of it.
