connecting neighbours through bicycle empowerment
At the heart of our mission is the belief that a bicycle is more than just a frame and two wheels, it is a powerful tool for building community. "Connecting neighbours through bicycle empowerment" reflects our commitment to breaking down social and physical barriers by making cycling accessible to everyone. By providing the tools, mechanical skills, and confidence needed to ride, we empower individuals to reclaim their local streets and discover their surroundings at a human scale. Whether through community workshops, group rides, or bike-sharing initiatives, we create a space where residents from all walks of life can meet, share knowledge, and support one another. In every pedal stroke, we see an opportunity to foster a more inclusive, resilient, and tightly-knit neighbourhood.
“DWCC hosted an exciting bike repair session with the Bike Hub team and multiple energetic volunteer mechanics at Bruce Park. There were so many bikes that even 8+ mechanics were kept busy the whole time. Young and old attended. It was great to see so many bike riders helping and learning. What an amazing turnout and thanks to our volunteers and community for their support.” -Caleb
Building stronger connections, one wheel at a time.
Our community bike repairs bring neighbors of all ages together to share mechanical skills, repair their rides, and spark new friendships in our community.
All bikes donated to us will go to support our Community Bike Hub programs. We have tools and space, but we need bikes and parts to be able to reuse and recycle and give back to the community. Bikes we get back on the road go to volunteers who put in volunteer hours to “earn a bike.”

“My favourite activity is taking my daughters for a spin on my Aventon cargo E-Bike to find a new park - especially one with river views. I also love running, writing poetry and making tortillas.”
